White Cliffs of Dover

White Cliffs of Dover

We spent a couple of days in Dover. The town itself feels a bit drab (sorry!) - but the general area has lots to offer. The White Cliffs are amazing. There is a fantastic trail running along the cliff-tops, with some stunning views of course. (Though I wouldn't recommend standing as close to the edge - the cliffs are very crumbly!) We loved the little town of St Margaret's Bay, which is a few miles east of Dover. We also enjoyed having a beer in this great little pub that cross-channel swimmers apparently frequent. But, sadly, the imposing defenses of Dover Castle were closed on Mondays in winter, so we didn't get to see that. I hope Britain's enemies don't learn of this - lest they scurrilously use the information to plan an invasion on a Monday...
